Friends University Website
Uninviting, outdated, amateur and confusing were among the sentiments made by students, alumni, faculty and others regarding the Friends University website. Realizing that their most valuable marketing tool was not doing its job well – not to mention the site wasn’t responsive, so on-the-go users were getting a raw deal – the marketing team began looking for outside help to boost their online presence by redesigning and redeveloping their entire website.
When it came time to wrangle the mega menus and determine what the architecture of this content-rich site would look like, we approached it from a user standpoint. Go figure! We learned that each of the university’s audiences sought specific information and we could generally divide the content based on the visitor’s relation to the university – prospective student, current student, alumni, faculty, family, etc.
Knowing that its primary function is a marketing tool, the front-facing content is geared toward recruitment of prospective students, while the secondary navigation makes it quick and easy for other audience segments to find information pertaining to their needs.
Now streamlined, modernized, and of course completely responsive, the Friends University website has a new personality that is helping drive recruitment and school pride.
